Embark on the first Argentine tours celebrating of Black Heritage:

I really enjoyed this tour and love the work that this guide is doing. If you’re considering this tour… don’t think twice. Show up and support this REVOLUTIONARY tour that is unearthing hidden Black and African history in Argentina.

I highly recommend the Afro Argentine tour to everyone. It’s a great education on the history of Argentina that it’s not publicly known. Our guide Leticia was so knowledgeable and personable. She encouraged us to ask questions and participate in the tour. This tour was my favorite activity in Buenos Aires.

Experience and share Afro-Argentine Culture

All of our experiences are led by members of the Afro-Argentine community. All the money from this tour is reinvested into marketing, free tours and  projects to promote Black History Awareness. Private tours' earnings support free tour for Black kids in our community.

The History

From the earliest colonial times, the Spanish conquistadores brought along them enslaved Africans that contributed enormously to the culture and history of this country.

The Afro-Argentines built the historic city centers of Argentina, and their culture and contributions can be felt in asado, tango, candombe and in the lunfardo slang. They fought for our idependence and continue to produce culture and richness for our country.

But in the late 1800s, the leaders of Argentina decided to brand the country as an extension of Europe, erasing the contributions and history of the Afro-Argentines to such an extent that even today, many people say "there are no Black people in Argentina" -despite the fact that about 5% of the country is Afro-.

We wanted to recover and share this important part of Argentine history.

Making the invisible visible

Argentina's official history has erased the role, contributions and importance of our Black community.

We believe this part of history needs to be told and the official narrative needs to change. We designed the first ever tour about the history of the Afro-Argentines, and for every private tour we sell, we sponsor a free tour for a class in the public education system, so that kids can have a broader notion of our history. We also sponsor affordable tickets for our local community to learn about Argentina's Black History.

Wanna help us? Even if you don't travel to Argentina, feel free to give us a hand sponsoring a tour for a classroom in the public eduaction system. You'll get a video and pictures of the activity to show your friends!

All of Argentina is Afro, too.

We have also developed longer itineraries specifically tailored to Afro-Diasporic travelers, where we visit community centers, learn traditional rhythms and even take part in performatic events about Black Identity and History.

Our long term goals include establishing relations with members of the African Diaspora across all of Argentina, so that we can shed light on the diversity and richness of this community in every corner of our country.
